The kit must be suitable for testing water matrices that is generally known to have low counts of Somatic coliphages (eg potable water, reclaimed water etc) 2. The kit must be able to easily and specifically enumerate Somatic coliphages using 100 mL volumes of sample 3. Must be based on the following international protocols ISO 10705-2 and US-EPA 1602, US-EPA 1642 and US-EPA 1643 4. The supplier must be able to provide a certificate of analysis (COA) for the kit upon request 5. The kit must be able to have a shelf life of at least 6 months upon arrival at Scientific Services Branch 6. The kit must contain the following sterile contents and packaged in suitable sterile containers and the quantities must be sufficient for the full amount of assays in the kit (6.1) sterile E. coli WG5 (ATCC700078) host strain in compact form and in the pre-determined optimal concentration for analyses (6.2) Modified Scholtens' Broth (MSB) supplemented with Calcium chloride (6.3) Positive control Bacteriophage ?x174 (6.4) Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) for reconstitution of freeze dried (lyophilised) positive control (Bacteriophage ?x174) (6.5) 2X Solidified Modified Scholtens' Agar (MSA) supplemented with the antibiotic nalidixic acid to prevent contamination of media. 7. The results for analysis using the kit should be obtainable within 24 hours . 8.
