These systems utilise various types of mechanisms and media to remove odours. The mechanical infrastructure for the various systems is in place. This tender focus only on the replacement of the media at the various units. • The dry scrubber media should consist of a blend of ferric oxide, chlorine dioxide and activated carbon (preferably layered and separated). • An H2S removal efficiency of >98% must be achieved by the scrubber media during peak and normal hours. Analytical data from other South African implemented systems confirming removal efficiency must be submitted. (Removal efficiency measurement will be based on the difference between the in- and outflow (pre and post scrubber). • The scrubber media must be able to remove other sulphurous organic compounds, ammonia, mercaptans and other related wastewater odours such as ketones, aldehydes and amines. • All media must be in a dry granular form and must not be affected by moisture. • Products of the reactions must be odourless and environmentally friendly. • No chlorinated organics should be formed. • The lifespan of the scrubber media must be at least 3 years. Calibration certificates for all equipment used to test the H2S removal efficiency must be provided by the supplier at the time of calibration • Detailed information on how and where to dispose of waste media after its reported lifespan must be provided. • The dry media shall be transported and installed on-site by the successful bidder (see Table 1 for list of pump stations). • The media shall be tested after installation to prove that the system(s) operate at >98% H2S removal efficiency. This shall be documented in a concise report and shared with the City of Cape Town.
