SCOPE OF WORK This project comprises the following items of work, to be carried out in accordance with the Drawings and this Project Specification, all to the satisfaction of the CCT The refuse container can be viewed by appointment.Contact Person Zamxolo Fena 0214005126/0738702549 or email Zamxolo.fena@capetown.gov.za The proposed refuse container must be identical to the specification of the refuse container currently being utilised by the City of Cape Town. 2.1 Capacity 80 litres 2.2 Material Roto moulded Low Linear Density Polyethylene Plastic (LLDPE), impact resistant and stabilized against ultraviolet rays. 2.3 Variation Of Container Body and Lid Dimensions Bottom Width 440 mm to 450 mm Top Width 500 mm to 520 mm Bottom Breadth 325 mm to 330 mm Top Breadth 395 mm to 410 mm Container Height (excl lid) 795 mm to 815 mm Lid Height 130 mm to 145 mm Hole in Lid 155 mm to 165 mm in diameter (Centre on top of lid) Wall width 4 mm to 5 mm on any point 2.4 Container Colour Red (gloss finish) 2.5 Variation of Inner Liner Dimensions Material Roto moulded Low Linear Density Polyethylene Plastic (LLDPE), impact resistant and stabilized against ultraviolet rays Bottom Width 380 mm to 390 mm Top Width 465 mm to 475 mm Bottom Breadth 250 mm to 275 mm Top Breadth 360 mm to 370 mm Container Height 735 mm to 745 mm The inner liner must also have a 20 mm to 25 mm continuous ridge around the top two short sides and 1 long side which will be utilised to lift the inner out of the outer container. Wall width 4 mm to 5 mm on any point 2.6 Inner Liner Colour Black 2.7 Drainage Holes Refuse container to have 5 drainage holes, 14mm in diameter at the base of the refuse container. (Refuse container inner liner to have one drainage hole, 22 mm in diameter at the centre of the base. 2.8 Recess On Outer Container The outer container needs to have a recess of 200 mm X 220 mm on the front centre, 175mm from the top of the refuse container body to provide space for a sticker. 2.9 Reinforced Spine The outer green refuse container must have a reinforced spine moulded on the opposite side to the recess for the sticker. The width must be 445 mm to 450 mm and a length of no less than 500 mm. The outer green refuse container must have a 2 mm reinforced metal plate in the inner spine of the refuse container that must be 370 mm to 400 mm in length and 30 mm to 35 mm in width with four (4) 35mm X 5mm slits, 2 on either side of the spine in order to pole mount the refuse container s, 220 mm between the top and the bottom pair of slits. 2.10 Locking Mechanism Each refuse container needs to be fitted with the current approved lock and catch. The locking mechanism sample in use must be view by appointment. 2.11 Hinge Each refuse container must be fitted with 2 durable plastic hinges as per the current approved hinges, and fixed 30 mm apart from each other. A sample of the hinge must be viewed by appointment. Dimensions of the hinges are (L) 80 mm x (H) 30 mm x (W) 5 mm including a steel bar. Each hinge must be attached to the container with 6 (5x18mm) aluminium blind pop rivets (3 on top and 3 at the bottom) and reinforced using 6 x 20mm galvanised steel washers per hinge on the inside of the refuse container. SINGLE CEMENT BASE 2.12 Material Concrete with smooth finish. Composition 9/35 Mpa (Megapascals) 2.13 Dimensions Overall base 490mm X 390mm X 100mm. Cement base Indent 450mm x 350mm x 20mm in which the bin base will fit. 2.14 Drainage Holes The cement base must have 2 drainage holes, 14mm in diameter. positioned 85mm from both ends. 2.15 Fasteners The cement base must have 2 x M12 Hexagon Hot Dip Galvanised Bolts with 17 mm Hexagon Hot Dip Galvanised Nuts anchored with the thread facing upward and 2 x 60mm x 1mm Hot Dip Galvanised Washers Positioned 85mm from both ends. GUIDELINE Wherever reference is made to any particular Trade Mark, Name, Patent, Design, Type, Specific Origin or Producer, such reference shall be deemed to be accompanied by the words "or equivalent". Supply and Delivery of 80L Refuse Bin with concrete base at Unitas Park, Milnerton Allocation of Preference Points In order to qualify for preference points, it is the responsibility of the bidder to Submit a duly completed MBD 6.1 form (bidders must indicate how they claim points for each specific goal) Submit documentary proof of updated BBBEE certificate/sworn affidavit and/or CIPC certificate with each RFQ submission to validate specific goals. (if a bidder is registered and active on the City#s Supplier Database and has submitted the BBBEE certificate/ Sworn affidavit/ CIPC certificate, the submission of said documents is not necessary). It is therefore incumbent on suppliers to ensure that documents are kept updated. Failure to comply with the above will result in a zero (0) allocation for preference points.
