Non residue foam must retain the gel, and when covering a burn it must be sufficiently elastic to accommodate the possibility of swelling and flexing of joints. The dressings must provide essential physical protection against further tissue damage, and instantly shield and protect the wound and be ideal for primary use on all kinds of burns and scalds - including chemical burns - which require special treatment. The dressing must contain a specially formulated hydro gel which is non-toxic and non-irritant with the active ingredient being melaleuca alternifolia.
