SPECIFICATION FOR A LOW FREQUENCY SOUND LEVEL METER WITH G WEIGHTING The supply will be one Type 1 ( Class 1) Low Frequency Integrating Impulse Sound Level Meter, compliant yo IEC 61672 standards with Type 1 approval in the country of manufacture and must come with training on the use thereof. Must be able to measure infrasound in the 1 Hz to 20 kHz band. It must have * The G weighting curve as per ISO 7196 Standard as well as have all the standard frequency weightings of A,C,Z . * The sound level meter, hereafter referred to as SLM, must have a large LCD colour display of at least 75 x 55 mm with good visibility even in broad daylight outside. It must also have good adjustable backlighting for night-time use. * A Class1 acoustic calibration source that conforms to IEC60942 2003 standards. * The SLM must measure LEQ and be data-logging with the capability of expanding functionality by purchasing additional optional add-ons such as Real Time Analyser or Wave Recording. Easy transfer of data to PC with easy viewing of collected data on a spreadsheet program e.g., MS Excel must be possible. * It must have data-logging features such as programmable start end times and auto store and manual store and trigger level settings available. * The SLM must be able to measure and display measurements in both in A ,C, Z and G weightings simultaneously. * The SLM must be supplied with either on board or extended memory of at least 2 Gigabytes on typical flash memory cards eg SD. * The SLM must have a USB port for data transfer to a PC and come standard with data transfer software. * Battery run time must be at least 12 Hours on a set of Alkaline AA batteries. * A measuring range of 30dB to140dB(A) RMS or greater and the noise floor of less than 20 dB on A weighting scale. * The dynamic range of the noise monitor on a single range setting shall be 70 dB or greater in both SLM mode and RTA mode. TECHNICAL SUPPORT Must be supported locally, in the RSA, by competent technical personnel. Suppliers must provide details of technical backup and support available. CALIBRATION REQUIREMENTS The SLM and acoustic calibrator must be approved for certification by a SANAS accredited laboratory for ac oustics and the SANAS accredited certificates of calibration in the name of City of Cape Town, Health Department, Specialised Services must be supplied for both units. TRAINING for a period of at least one day is essential and must be included.
